SM Kids Personali-Tees

The t-shirt is the most versatile item in your wardrobe. Young ones are free to mix, match and create outfits for any day and occasion, kids gave their tees an instant upgrade with different accessories and bottoms to show you how easy it is to spruce up your t-shirts for a sweet-but-tough combo, during the jazz up your tees activity at the Annex Event Center made possible by SM Kids and SM Store.

But nothing makes even the most low-key mothers temporarily morph into their stage mom alter-egos other than seeing their kids up onstage, their names in bright lights.
Kid’s ages 2 to 11 years old stole the spotlight last Saturday, September 10, 2017, at SM City Davao.  Kids get hip with effortlessly and fashionably disheveled look, with the trusty statement and colorful tees.

For a minimum purchase of two thousand pesos, kids can join the tee activity and showcase their creation on the runway. From slogan tees to rainbow stripes the kids brave the runway and express themselves.

The BarthLett triplets Dawn, Eve and Conner completely owned the runway with a hand on one hip and a hair flip at the end. The event was a success and you can see this by just looking at the kid’s smiles and eager looks to get primped and prettified.

DABAWENYA AUTHORS A SELF-EMPOWERMENT BOOK

A Dabawenya authors for the first time a self-empowerment book. Joan Mae Soco-Bantayan, 33, who is a nurturer at Tuburan Institute and 2003 Mutya ng Dabaw, wrote the book Remember Who You Really Are: 12 questions to help you how. The book launch was held last July 21, 2017, Friday, 4:00 PM at the Abreeza Mall Activity Center.

“I have been longing to write a book that will help empower our fellow men and finally, I’ve done it,” Soco-Bantayan says that even when she longed to write a book, she did not plan to do it this year. “Interestingly, Lady Bam Petilos, a TV and personality and a friend whom I met in Ike Pono seminar, came up to me last January and told me that it’s time for me to write a book,” she says. “Lady Bam also told me that the idea to write a book is divinely guided. Inwardly, I felt that too and I knew I had to honor that.”

The book, according to Soco-Bantayan, is a summation of the lessons she learned from seminars like Ike Pono facilitated by Bruce Conching and Mission Courage Workshop facilitated by Alternative Nobel Prize awardee Nicanor Perlas. “It also discusses the personal questions that we can use as a compass so that we are able to cope with our lives better,” Soco-Bantayan adds. “Because of the busy-ness that weighs in our lives, we have forgotten to look deeper into ourselves and find that deep inside lies the fulfillment.”

Soco-Bantayan adds that Remember Who You Really Are not only talks about personal desires that one can achieve, “I am emphasizing the sense of duty along with gratitude to in the book. This is because we have to change our inner perspective first before we can help in the world.”

During the book launch, various guests were treated to angel message oracle card reading and gave angel card readings and guidance to guests for free. “This book would not have been possible without the help of the angels,” she shares.

The book comes with an angel message bookmarker created by Angeologist Princess Buendia.

Manara: An Interactive Moro Art

Posted by on 2:53 pm in Blog | 0 comments

The official opening of MANARA: An Interactive Moro Art Installation by Ayala Foundation in partnership with Ayala Malls happened last Aug 9, 2017, at Abreeza Mall.

Abreeza proudly unveiled the interactive art experience featuring the culture of Muslim Mindanao made by two outstanding Filipino artists: Internationally acclaimed sculptor and painter Toym Imao and industrial designer and installation artist Lilianna Manahan.

“Manāra” is the Arabic word for “minaret,” which is a lighthouse providing light to people and vessels that need to find their way. A minaret is also an important architectural feature of mosques; it is where calls to prayer are made. The MANARA exhibit first launched at the Ayala Museum Plaza earlier in May to coincide with the start of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and now it is making its way to Ayala Malls in Visayas and Mindanao not just to shed light on the richness and diversity of Moro culture and inspire a deeper understanding of Muslim Filipinos, but also to serve as a call for peace and unity—for Filipinos, even though they come from diverse backgrounds, to become more open to dialogue and cooperation.

Furthermore, it comes in a timely fashion to Abreeza Mall as Davao City observes the annual Kadayawan Festival, which celebrates the interaction of diverse cultures. The exhibit will run from August 9 to Sept 8 2017.

Gabrielle: The Sweet Sound of the South

Gabrielle: The Sweet Sound of the South

Caressing, it’s how her voice is described, a voice that has been likened to that of a foreign singer’s. “Definitely not Pinoy,” may often be the comment, and perhaps like the Pied Piper, she can lure in the crowd into the performance venues, like the Kanto Bar and BluGre in Matina Town Square where she has regular gigs. With her looks and fair skin tone, you’d probably think you’re right she’s not a local.

Anyone would give an impressive nod upon finding out that the voice belongs to a Filipina. Yes, even amazed that the singer on stage is a young lady, whose timbre and repertoire quite advanced for her age.

Here’s the deal, Gabrielle Gross is Pinay, “I’m a proud Davaoeña,” she’ll declare, and at 16 years old she has found her sound and has composed her own songs, like “A Song Inspired by You” and “Ain’t Bothering You”, and plays the instrument of choice herself—the guitar or the ukulele.

As for her choices of cover songs, she’s a young girl with an old soul. She may have Beyonce and Ariana Grande on the list, but one can’t help but wonder why a 11th grader would fancy Elton John’s ‘Daniel’, Bread’s ‘If’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Ben’ and ‘Smile’, or Diana Ross’s ‘Do You Know Where You’re Going To’.

“I want to give every song I cover my spin to it. I want to sound like me.” Perhaps her liking to a diverse range of songs is due to the exposure to different kinds of music, “I grew up listening to jazz and classical music, to Michael Jackson and Jonny Mathis. My dad really opened my mind to music,” she confessed.

Gabrielle Gross is the daughter of popular balladeer Chad Borja. She says that it’s a bonus to be the daughter of a famous singer, but she has plans of her own. “I want to be known for the things I do and for who I am.”

Daughter and father has had several gigs together but on her own, Gabrielle has performed in front of a large audience appearing as front act at the 2017 Philippine Tour of 70-piece brass band Musikverein Orchestra of Germany and as guest vocalist for One Light Orchestra which performed at a Davao school-for-the-blind foundation, and just recently for Diabetes Awareness Week last July at Festival Mall in Alabang.

It does not come as a surprise that she was signed up by Ivory Music as one of its talents. Quoting Ivory Music, “The record label sees much reason to sign her and launch the brand of music and star aura she has into the mainstream.”

Gabrielle Gross’ debut digital single “A Song Inspired by You” was released last August 18, 2017, and can be downloaded at iTunes, Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon. It’s a song she wrote herself and delivers a message of universality.

Hit-making tunesmith Jimmy Borja also composed a song for this young talent to record. Entitled “Secret”, the song is about voicing out being one’s self while everybody’s trying to fit in.

“Gabrielle is surely an act to watch. She delivers her take of sweet, laid back music that seamlessly fuses pop, acoustic, R&B, and jazz only a few of her age can truly pull off,” said an Ivory Music official.

From the South to the rest of the archipelago, expect the sweet sound of Gabrielle Gross filling the airwaves.
